Singercise is a free, virtual class offered online for people battling Parkinson’s disease.
This brand new program will be offered through the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA thanks to a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Singercise aims to improve vocal intensity, speech intelligibility, respiration and swallowing. It can also provide stress reduction as well as reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Virtual class times are Wednesdays from noon to 1:30 pm. The program will be offered virtually via Zoom.
Class will be led by board-certified music therapist Alysha Suley, MM, MT-BC, a member of the American Music Therapy Association and the International Association for Music & Medicine.
Registration is required and class slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Interested participants may register in person at the Lewisburg YMCA at the Miller Center, by calling (570)556-4191, or online. Singercise is open to participants of any physical ability or fitness level. Musical experience and singing ability are not required. For more information, please email Alysha Suley.
