This afternoon, the CDC announced new guidance to their preventions steps that should be taken against COVID-19 at the community level.
This new guidance from the CDC recommends that if you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions, and otherwise healthy individuals may relax mask use in Commonwealth counties where transmission is not high. As of today, February 25, the three counties in our service area, Union, Snyder and Northumberland, entered into the moderate transmission phase.
Effective immediately, the YMCA is ending our mandatory masking policy within all of our YMCA buildings.
Although it is not mandatory, we are still strongly encouraging GSV YMCA staff to wear masks. COVID is still present in our region and can still be easily spread.
Group exercise classes will still continue to distance participants, and distancing is still encouraged on the fitness floor and elsewhere at the Y.
All healthcare services rendered within the Miller Center and healthcare sponsored programs will continue to require masks.
Employees of Evangelical Community Hospital within the Miller Center will also continue to be required to mask. We will no longer be providing masks to members and guests upon entry at the front desk.
