PWR!Moves® Class for Parkinson’s

PWR!Moves® is an exercise class for those with Parkinson’s disease. It is designed around four basic elements of exercise, targeted to help counteract bradykinesia, rigidity, and incoordination. The foundational elements of PWR!Moves® are: PWR! UP antigravity extension, PWR! ROCK weight shifting, PWR! TWIST axial mobility, and PWR! STEP transitional movement training. Some of the Parkinson’s symptoms that exercise can positively affect include mood, self-confidence, bone health, sleep, digestion and constipation, fatigue, gait and balance and functional mobility.

All classes take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1-2pm and are led by certified PWR!Moves® instructor Jessica Colna.

Rates can be adjusted for those joining part way through the month. For additional information or assistance registering for class, please email Jessica Colna.

About Jess

My name is Jessica Colna, I work at the Lewisburg YMCA as the Parkinson’s Program Coordinator. I’ve always been passionate when it comes helping others and doing more for the community. I enjoy spending my time with family and friends, keeping up with the newest trends in the crafting world, as well as staying healthy and active. I am a licensed, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant which has given me the skill set to educate and care for individuals with special diagnoses. Most importantly, the many ways to encourage and help people to live to their full potential while improving their overall quality of life.

I am now providing a PWR!Moves class to individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1-2pm at the Lewisburg YMCA. This class focuses on providing techniques to maintain and/or decrease the progression of symptoms associated with Parkinson’s Disease such as: Bradykinesia, Balance, Incoordination, and Rigidity.
