Ages 11-12 Junior CIT Program
Our new “Junior Coach-In-Training” program is designed to keep 11 and 12 year old children excited and invested in the camp experience they have grown to love. This limited space program includes all of the fun of our YMCA/Miller Center Summer Camp, including field trips, swimming, movies, sports, art projects and more with the added benefit of increased responsibility for this specific age group. (Parents will also appreciate the slight discount on registration fee.)
Because of this added responsibility, our Junior CIT’s are expected to maintain great role model behavior throughout the camp and will be treated as such.
*Please note that regular summer camp registration is only available for ages 5-10, and the Junior CIT program is for all 11 and 12 year old children who wish to participate in summer camp.*
Junior CIT Program FAQ’s
Who is eligible for this program? Children born between 8/15/09 and 6/6/11. *Children who turn 11 during the summer may graduate to this program pending behavior, interest and coach discretion.*
What does the new program entail? Junior CIT’s will have added responsibilities such as setting up activities, keeping track of lunch and snack counts, assisting coaches in activities, and much more. Junior CIT’s will be split up between the various age groups for many activities, but they will be able to participate in many other activities such as competitive games with their appropriate age level.
Where? Junior CIT’s will be fully supervised and spend the whole day with the regular summer camp, including field trips, swimming, etc.
When? Families will be able to apply to whatever weeks they would like, but since space is limited in this unique program, they are not fully registered until the Director or other YMCA staff member confirms their desired dates. If you apply in February or March, you will know which weeks you receive as soon as possible, but no later than 3/31/22.
Why? Like it or not, kids are growing up fast and there have been many signs from this pre-teen age group that they are ready for more responsibility. This program aims to straddle the line between the full-on responsibility of being a coach and still having fun as a camper.
How do we apply? Families should fill out the online application form together with the child so everyone knows what to expect. Once the application is submitted you will know shortly which weeks your child is accepted for.
*Because this is a program with limited space, your child may not end up getting all the weeks you apply for. Because of this we have set up a timeline so you know in a prompt manner what weeks you can rely on our camp for childcare.*
Application timeline:
-Apply as soon as you are able to.
-If you apply at any time in February or March, you will know which weeks your child is registered for by March 31st at the latest. If you apply in April or later, we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
-Once you are officially registered, you must set up a payment plan, including deposit.
